iPhone's version 2.2 beta 2 may let users download podcasts without the use of a computer

Rumours have said that the new version 2.2 of iPhone software will give the user the ability of downloading podcasts directly to the iPhone without the use of a computer. A shot of the beta 2 version of this software shows the words "Get More Episodes" at the bottom of the iPhone's podcast menu. This makes it seem like the the software will let people download podcast episodes from the iTunes store without a computer. Makes sense too. We can already download music and applications onto our iPhones without a computer, so why not podcsts?

Fingers crossed! Great news for podcast lovers (or should that be "a great rumour?").

E-mail: Gmail beta is really good

Well, I've just seen the new Gmail, and it's brilliant. A clear, Google Reader like interface and a host of new features, my favourite being Talk.
Here's my new list for the three main e-mail services:

1. Gmail
2. Yahoo! Mail
3. Windows Live Hotmail

All three are all excellent services, but Gmail wins with its new features.

Apple iPhone ad banned over Internet claims

The latest iPhone ad has been banned in the UK because of misleading Internet claims. The ad showed the iPhone's Internet capabilities, zooming into a weather forecast for Cape Town and a map of how to get to Heathrow airport.

"You never know which part of the Internet you'll need ... which is why all the parts of the Internet are on the iPhone," ran a voiceover.

It was banned because two complaints were received, stating that the claim was misleading because the iPhone does not support Flash or Java, which are of utmost importance to many web pages.

Apple said the claim was to highlight how the iPhone can offer any web page to the user, while other handsets can only offer WAP versions of sites.

Apple added that they couldn't ensure compatibility every third party application in the marketplace, and that the line "all parts of the Internet" meant that the page is always available,
"not every aspect of functionality".

The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) then banned the ad because it had not explained the
limitations of the iPhone, and gave a misleading impression of the Internet capabilities of the device.

What do you think? Comment your thoughts on the ad here.

iPhone Made Available in 22 More Countries

The Apple iPhone was made available in 22 more countries today. The countries included Argentina, Poland, Greece, Brazil, India, South Africa and the Philippines. Unlocked iPhones in Greece are on sale for 459 euro (679$ USD).
With the addition of the 22 countries Apple has almost doubled its potential market to a total of 660 million potential subscribers. If only a small percentage of those potential subscribers actually opt for the iPhone Apple could easily exceed its own sales expectations. Good news for people worldwide, and for Apple.

The PageRank 10 Experiment

Recently, while searching the net for some good sites, I came across this: 10PageRank, an experimental website to see if serious linking back can make your website have a PR 10. The website is currently on PR 4, and needs even more support if it is to fulfill its mission of obtaining a PageRank of 10. Try it out.
